Mendocino is a lovely hamlet on a picturesque promontory 150 miles north of San Francisco. Settled by lumber men from New England in 1852, their Yankee Victorian buildings with water towers, wooden walkways, and picket fences remain an integral part of the present.
A stroll through the quaint streets in this pristine Village delights visitors with its abundance of fine art galleries and shops, excellent cuisine, and quaint B & B's. Local events include a Summer Music Festival, Fall Wine Tastings, and year round Performing Arts. Mendocino Headlands State Park with its beautiful beaches and bluffs completely surrounds this Historic Village satisfying the most demanding of nature lovers. ELK
The Graham Estate is located 3 miles north of Elk
Elk is a small village with a population of approximately 210 residents located on Highway One right on the California Coast. It is known for its scenic beauty of sweeping vistas and large rock formations arising out of the ocean, which are stunning when viewed from near or far.
Go horseback riding on the beach, get a spa treatment, or take an ocean kayak tour. There are several restaurants and shops as well as an art gallery. The Elk Coast website lists local events as well as information on services and things to do in the area.
